Playing Songs
To listen to a song tap on the music icon and next tap the song icon which is at the bottom of the navigation bar. Scroll down to the song you want to listen to and tap it. The song will be displayed on the screen and will start playing. A set of controls will appear near the bottom, which will have the stop / pause/play, rewind, volume control and fast forward buttons. Choose as desired and continue.

Rewinding, forwarding and scrubbing songs
When a song is playing you can scrub through it (go ahead or move backwards) by tapping at the centre of the screen. With the help of a small little scrubby slider which appears at the top of the screen. This tool is especially handy if you wish to repeat a line or song several times till you catch the right words. There are 2 more important buttons on the side of the scrubby slider. One is the repeat button on the left hand side. On tapping it turns blue and repeats the current song play list. If you tap it once again then a tiny “1″ appears which means it will not repeat the current song until it is turned off. Second there is the shuffle button on the right hand side. On tapping it turns on plays the current list in random order. Re tap to turn it off. Note: After a few seconds of playing a song the iPod’s screen automatically goes of to sleep to help save battery. To wake it simply press the home button and move the unlock slider bar to the right side.

Song Album
When a song plays in iTunes the album cover art appears on the screen. To see more songs from the same downloaded album you have to tap on an icon in the top right hand corner of the title bar. And a list of songs will appear including the song’s length and star rating of the song selected. To view other albums tap fast forward each time. Similarly to move back to cover art view tap on a blank area of the screen twice. To return to the regular song list tap the back button on the top left corner of the screen.

Accessing the song play list
Song play list created on iTunes gets copied on to the iPod touch when you sync the two. To view the play lists tap on to the music button and then on play lists in the navigation bar. Tap on the respective songs you would like to hear.

Favorite artist’s play list
Every one has a favorite artist for instance I love the old Beetel tracks. So I have created my own special play list. To do this tap the artists list in the main music screen. A list shall appear. Then scroll to the artist you would like to hear. Tap it. Now if you just want to hear all the albums of that artist s then tap all songs. Or else if you want to hear a particular song then scroll through the albums and select the song of your choice.

Plays lists on iPod touch
Creating on the go play list on an iPod touch is different from than of an iPod. Tap on to the music icon then play lists and at the top of the list of play lists there is On-The-Go. Tap it and a list of all the songs shall appear. Towards the right of each song a plus sign is there. Once you tap that it will add the song on to the On-The-Go play list. Once you are done press the done button on the top right hand corner. To add more songs in this list tap edit in top right and then the plus sign on the top left. All the songs will be listed and just tap the plus sign next to the song you would like to add toy your play list. If it is already there then the plus sign will be grey or else it will be added, on completion tap on the done button.

Visual searching by album cover
IPod touch and iTunes have the same cover flow feature which allows you to visually scroll through the entire music collection by cover art. For this simply turn your iPod horizontally and it will automatically enter the cover flow. To move through the covers swipe your finger across the screen. To stop the flowing stop swiping. Now to view a song from a particular album tap on it and the cover will flip over to show it to you. Tap to play the song. To return back to the cover flow view tap twice in a blank area on the screen. Note music will not stop only the view will change back to cover flow

Videos on Ipod touch
To watch any of the videos downloaded on podcasts get on to the home screen. Then tap on videos and the main video screen will appear. An entire category will be displayed as per type (TV, movies, music videos etc). To watch a video scroll down the list and then tap the one you want to see. For watching videos always keep the iPod horizontal. Tap any where on the screen to view controls (rewind, forwards etc). These will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. A scrubber will also appear at the top of the screen. Press and hold it and then drag towards right for forwarding and left for scrubbing backwards. Note: there are two modes for viewing the videos. Cinematic which displays wide screen view (thin black bars will appear at the top and bottom of the screen). Secondly full screen view. To switch between the two just tap on the screen twice.

Deleting videos
Select the video on the iPod’s video list then press with your finger on the right of this list and drag back to the left. This will show a red delete button on the right of the listing. Tap it to delete.

Ipod sleep feature
It helps to shut down the iPod after a specified period of time. Get to the home screen and then tap clock. When it appears tap on timer which is at the bottom of the navigation bar. Once the time screen appears choose how long you would like the iPod to apply the song before it goes off to sleep. Now move your finger up and done to set the number wheel. Once you have set the time tap on the phrase “When timer ends” and a list of choice will appear. Tap sleep iPod then tap the blue set button in the right. A large green start button appears across the screen tap it after the time lapses the iPod will automatically go off to sleep.

Ipod touch tricks and tips on Clock features
There are 3 clocks in iPod touch – world clock, alarm and stop watch.

World clock
If you decide to make changes in the world clock i.e. add your preferred city etc then begin by, firstly tapping on to the world clock icon. To delete the city, tap edit button on the top left. You will find a red minus button in front of the city names. Tap that and then it will show you a red delete button on the right of the clock. Tap it to delete. To add a new one tap the plus button on the top right. It will bring forth iPod touch’s keypad and then you can enter the city you wish to display. When you find the appropriate city tap it to create the clock. If the face of the clock is white then it symbolises day or if black then night.

Alarm
To set an alarm tap the alarm button at the bottom of the screen. Tap the plus sign at the top to list all the options. To choose the alarm sound tap sound field and similarly continue choosing other options such as sleep timer time etc. Press save to add the alarm option to your list and in this way you can create multiple options for yourself.

Stop watch
Firstly you need to tap on to clock. Then stop watch which will appear the bottom end of the screen. Tap it to bring it up. There are 2 buttons over there start which will appear in (green) and reset in (red). Once you tap on to the green button the stop watch will begin running and then this button will get replaced by the red one for stopping. Next to the green button you will also have the reset button. Similarly next to the red it will turn to lap button. You can have several lap times to view it just scroll through the lap time list.

Built in key board
If at all you wish to type something on the ipod a key board will automatically appear. As you begin typing a larger version of the letter appears so that you know you are hitting the right letters. There is also an auto complete function which suggests you the word you are typing in advance. Usually if you type the word wrong it tends to even correct it.

Internet access
Apple iPod needs a WiFi network for accessing internet. You can do this from your home or office or in public high speed wireless hotspots like cafes, hotel lobbies etc Tap the safari web browser on the home screen and the iPod touch will immediately look for a connection and try and access it. If private password protected then you will find a padlock icon besides the network’s name. If it’s an open network then you will not see the pad lock and access the network instantly.
